昨日看ALA網站，有看到發佈去年ALA年刊，本想今日細看，但今日再看網站時，看到了這則：Leslie Burger elected ALA president for 2006-2007


摘譯如下：

Leslie Burger，這位普林斯頓公共圖書館館長，獲選為ALA 2006-2007年度總裁，Burger贏了Christine Lind Hage，Clinton-Macomb公共圖書館館長.。Burger以5401票勝過Hage的4598票。
她表示「我很惶恐的接受這個榮譽，並且會努力的為ala的會員服務。」她說「在競選的數月裡，我遇到了不同種類、不同國家的圖書館，他們和我分享了如何能讓ALA幫助各圖書館成功經營的願景。我知道在我們一起努力下，可以幫助明日的圖書館比昨日更好。」

嘖嘖，全是總統(President)和椅子(Chair)等級的職位(我特愛把主席說成椅子人), 而且
她還得到2004 New York Times圖書館員獎。厲害人物。

哇…雙碩，還是哈佛 (哼~) 的，而圖資碩士是馬里蘭大學(是那個馬里蘭大學嗎?)

• 推動各類圖書館公共支援 (galvanize public support for all types of libraries)
• 宣揚為什麼今日圖書館比以往更被需要 ( communicate why libraries are more essential than ever)
• 確保所有圖館員工能得到合理的報償，高度的受到重視和在社區裡獲得成功(ensure that all library workers are well compensated, highly regarded and vital to the success of their communities.)
• 快速和果斷的去推動憲法第一修正案，Open acess和合理使用權，以縮小資訊取得的障礙。(act quickly and decisively to promote First Amendment, open access and fair-use rights and reduce barriers to information access.)
• 努力去招募和留下不同的工作人才以準備下個世代的領袖人才。(work tirelessly to recruit and retain a diverse work force prepared to become the next generation of leaders.)
• 由新一代得館員和圖書館工作者建立擴張參與ALA的領導地位 establish expanded avenues for ALA participation and leadership by a new generation of librarians and library workers

可以很清楚的看到，ALA能有領導世界圖書館地位是其來有自，在選舉總裁時，下個年度的願景就能很清楚的看到，同時也有符合時事，包括了OPEN ACCESS和其它基本願景。至於能不能做到，我想，明年我們可以再看看她做到了多少。

明確的設立目標、和讓所有memeber認知、再努力達到目標，我想組織要成功，這是一個基本的條件吧。
